Acidanthera

("Abyssinian gladiolus")

Origins:

Native to Ethiopia & Madagascar and a member of the iris family.

Planting Tips:

Plant them early Spring, after the danger of frost has gone, since it will take approx. 20 weeks before they bloom. They are not overly fussy to grow. Plant in groups of at least 7-9. Keep moist, but do not over water throughout the growing season. Like gladiolus you can easily plant Acidanthera in 2-3 weeks intervals providing you with continous flowering garden plants (or cutflowers) all through the late Summer- and into the Fall-season.
